So you can really do this how ever you like. Take out things, and add things. We make this recipe a 100 different ways. Sometime I do not use Fresh Garlic. Since we use a lot of it I some time run out between shopping trips. You can really just make this with bell pepper sausage, and sauce plus noodles. Which would make this a 5 meal ingredient or less. Also if your on a budget, you can buy the sausage on sale. Stock up. Then just make this meal when bell peppers are in season, or on sale at the store.
You can freeze it and toss it into a crock pot frozen. This makes a great make a head meal and a great cold night dish. So here is how I make it most the time. I brown together 1 large chopped onion, and 3 bell peppers which is about 3 cups sometimes its a little more or less depending on the size of the peppers. I typically use 1 orange, green, yellow, sometimes I might add a red one. But I like to use the other ones, to give the meal some color. I also add Mushrooms, but once in a while I leave them out. As the veggies brown  I sprinkle in some Italian Seasoning, and some Garlic Salt. I then take 1 Sausage Roll, of Hot and 1 of Mild, or store does not always have the Italian. But if it did, I would use less Italian Seasoning. I start to pull it a part, and add it to the veggies to brown the Sausage. I sometime will take a  potato masher to make the sausage smaller pieces. It really depends on my mood. Some times I leave them in bigger chunks. I then add a few more sprinkles of more Italian Seasoning. I will also add a shake of Chili Flakes. Once that is all browned I then use a 67 oz jar of sauce. I use whatever is the cheapest. I do not use Ragu, it doesn't taste the same. I use Safeway store brand, Prego, and sometime I will use a can like Hunt. When I pour in the sauce I eye ball it. Sometime I use the whole jar, other times its about 3/4 of a jar. I like it to be more meaty then saucy. I most of the time put it over a fancy pasta like Rigatoni or Penne, sometimes I even use the bow ties. Just depends on what was on sale and what I have at home. I have even taken this recipes and did a lausaugnia. But I used cheese filled Raviolis. When I do this I do add more sauce. I will do a layer of the Ravioli then the sauce and meet repeat. Then on top I will use a Mozzarella, or an Italian Shredded Blend Cheese.
