Guest Post & Giveaway

This "guest post" request has been sitting in my draft folder for over a month now. Why do I find guest posts so hard to write? My blog title says it all... I am a reader, not a writer!

I was asked to share some of the series & authors I love to read. Part of the reason it is so hard for me to write this is because I have such eclectic tastes. I'm a huge young adult fan so many of the authors and series I read fall in that category but I also enjoy many other books.

Trying to pick favorites for me is like being a kid in a candy store. There are so many choices is is nearly impossible to narrow it down. Depending on the day and my mood I may pick something chocolate like a Snickers, Milky Way or Twix bar, but then other days it is Skittles, Starburst or Laffy Taffy that I'm craving. One day a Milky Way Midnight might be my favorite but a few weeks later a Symphony bar or 3 Musketeers is what I can't resist. Just like I have trouble picking a favorite candy bar, narrowing down books to my favorite authors is difficult to do.

While trying to come up with a list of my favorite authors and series I realized that there is a lot of overlap between the 2 lists. I'm sure I'm leaving some out but here is what comes to mind today.

Nicholas Sparks - I've read everything he's written
Shannon Hale - She makes me laugh
Stephenie Meyer - Got me reading again
Marcia Lynn McClure - How I love her clean romances
Janette Rallison - Love her sense of humor
Robin McKinley - Fabulous fairy tale retellings
Orson Scott Card - Master Storyteller

Suzanne Collins - Hunger Games & Gregor Series
J.K. Rowlings - Harry Potter Series
Maria Snyder - Poison Study Sereis
Brandon Mull - Fablehaven Series
Eoin Colfer - Artemis Fowl Series
Maggie Stiefvater - Wolves of Mercy Fall Series
Joan Hulob and Suzanne Williams - Goddess Girls Series
Julie Kagawa - The Iron Fey Series
Liz Curtis Higgs - Lowlands of Scotland Series
Gerald Lund - The Work and the Glory Series

If we turned to "classic" books I'd have to include Jane Austen's books, The Anne of Green Gables Series and Jane Eyre.

Ask me the same question in a month and I'm sure my list would be slightly different!
